If you’re moving or considering a move to south Florida, the best way to get involved in your new community is to volunteer your time.
Hospitals have an active volunteer corps, and so do most cities and towns. So you can choose how and when you want to spend your time close to where you live.
- The School District of Palm Beach County welcomes volunteers. “Hundreds of teachers have been offered that “extra pair of hands,” which is very much appreciated. Any person interested in becoming a school volunteer can contact the volunteer coordinator at the desired school.” The School District of Palm Beach County
- The Palm Beach County Library System has 18 branches with extensive classes and programming for parents, children, teens and retirees. “As a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to assist with various tasks from shelving books and organizing materials to helping staff with activities.” Volunteers
- Docents volunteer at theaters, performing arts venues and art museums, including the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. “While volunteering with Norton, we want you to find the perfect fit for what you wish to contribute and get out of this experience. - Not only is Palm Beach County home to the PGA, the Professional Golf Association, there’s a major annual tournament in Boca Raton that just released a call for more than 500 volunteers. The James Hardie™ Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational is seeking volunteers for the 2026 tournament, returning to The Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton from March 2–8, 2026. Volunteer opportunities span on-course and behind-the-scenes roles, including marshals, walking scorers, player transportation, corporate hospitality, course distribution, standard bearers, practice facilities, pro-am, cart management, roving marshals, tournament office, and more. Boca Raton has major nonprofits that all encourage volunteers. Here’s two:
- “Spirit of Giving’s large-scale programs offer some of the most meaningful volunteer experiences in our community. Whether it’s helping thousands of children prepare for the new school year at Back to School PBC!, serving as one of our ‘elves’ in the Holiday Gift Drive toy warehouse to sort and organize over 10,000 gifts, cheering families at the Boca Raton Bowl as we distribute tickets to nonprofits and youth teams, or joining the fun of the Community Spirit Race at FAU — volunteers make it all possible. - “American Association of Caregiving Youth volunteers make a life-changing difference for caregiving youth and their families. Through the Caregiving Youth Project in Palm Beach County, students who care for family members who are chronically ill, injured, aging, and/or disabled get the extra support they need to do well in school and in life, while still having the chance to just be kids.
