If you’ve closed on a home and plan to move to Palm Beach County over the summer with school-age children, know that public school semesters start and end here earlier than you’re used to.
May 30 is the last day of school, and the first day of the new school semester is Aug. 12 for The School District of Palm Beach County. Some kindergarteners may even start on Aug. 13 or 14.
The good news is that you don’t need to be here to ensure your child or children will be enrolled in your new community’s elementary, middle or high school, charter school or pre-kindergarten program. And there are no sign-up deadlines to attend your new home school.
But parents are advised to contact their home school as soon as possible once they close on a house, according to school authorities.
Online registration is open, and new families are encouraged to go to The School District of Palm Beach County

If you’re not sure what school you’re zoned for, ask your real estate professional. Or, you can do a search yourself for The School District of Palm Beach County find my school tool to locate which schools or school’s your new address is zoned for. Schools remain open except for Fridays in July.
